Private Lessons

Lessons are taught in my home studio in the Briarcliff neighborhood of Oak Ridge Tuesday through Friday and at Bill Jones Music in Knoxville on Thursday mornings. Every lesson is personalized to meet the needs of each student. We first begin in a method book. Which method book will depend upon the student's age, skill level, and learning needs. Other supplemental materials will be added as needed to reinforce technical and musical skills. Eventually we will move on to classical repertoire and other styles of music. If the student has a particular request, I will do everything I can to fill that request. The following are some examples of topics that will be covered, but are not limited to: 

• proper sitting posture
• various finger exercises
• aural exercises
• movement
• theory
• music history
• playing expressively
• how to practice at home

There will be 4 group lessons scheduled throughout the calendar year. These are free of charge and are in addition to private lessons. Group lessons serve to provide a fun and relaxed environment in which students can practice performing, listening, and celebrating everything that involves music learning with their peers. There will also be games and activities that reinforces students' learning and to help build community with each other.

Group lessons are offered on Fridays from 5:00-6:00pm in Oak Ridge only. 

Students in Oak Ridge and Knoxville who have had at least 1 year of lessons will be eligible to participate in various festivals and auditions, such as the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival, KMTA Auditions, eMTNA festival, etc. Each event has different requirements so Gina will provide more information as these events are available for entry. Tuition and registration fees do not cover the cost of event entry fees. 

Our Spring Recital is a formal celebration of all the students' hard work throughout the year! Each student will perform their pieces they have prepared for the listening enjoyment of family and friends. Certificate presentation, light refreshments, and fellowship will follow. This will be scheduled in the month of May.
